30 Book Challenge Each grade level 1st - 4th has a yearly book challenge. Our goal is for students to read 30 books this school year. Students should be reading at home and in class and taking AR tests weekly. We will be focusing on reading a variety of genres. Each month we will focus on a different genre and students will be expected to read book(s) from that genre. These books can be read as homework and classwork. The challenge is to help motivate students to read a variety of literature. This month's genre is graphic novels.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS ABOUT TARDIES, ABSENCES, & EARLY CHECKOUTS
From the office regarding attendance: Please remember to promptly send in an excuse note stating the reason for the absence. The student handbook states you have 3 days to submit the excuse upon return to school. All absences over 3 days need to be approved prior to the absence. These can be denied. Students may have 10 absences. Any absences after that require a doctors note for every absence. Please let me know if you have questions or contact the office for further explanations.
Please note - perfect attendance awards are given only if a student was never absent, tardy or checked out early. Any one of these, no matter how short, disqualifies a student from receiving this award.
**Please view page 9 of the Student Handbook for additional information.
